Politics and Sustainability in Sports (PASS) - Greening Professional Football
Professional football clubs and football associations are rarely perceived as political actors and their activities within political processes have thus far received little attention in policy research.
This research project analyses the sustainability activities of key players in professional football from a political science perspective. The central research objective of the project is to conceptualise the "political potential" of these actors and their activities in the field of sustainability policy in a differentiated way on the basis of fundamental political science theories of power. On this basis, the current empirical evidence will be analysed and critically reflected upon. "What role do football clubs and football associations play in political processes towards sustainability?" and "How do these players actually influence this process?" are specific questions that will be addressed in this research project.
The project "Politics and Sustainability in Sports (PASS) - Greening Professional Football" is led by Lars Berker and Prof Dr Michael Böcher.
