Welcome Week 2025 – A great start to the new Semester!

The Welcome Week 2025 for our programme European Studies Bachelor and Master brought together new and returning students for a week full of introductions, exchange, and exploration. The aim was simple: to help our newcomers settle in, connect with their peers, and start the new academic year with a sense of community and curiosity.
Throughout the week, students took part in a variety of introductory sessions, learned more about their study programmes, and met lecturers and administrative staff. Several informal get-togethers provided the chance to make first connections, share experiences, and get a feel for campus life at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg.
Among these activities, two special highlights took place on Friday:
-
the presentation of the final Master’s projects by students in the European Studies programme, and
-
a free guided city tour of Magdeburg, offering insights into the city’s rich history, cultural diversity, and local landmarks.
Both events were wonderful opportunities for exchange between cohorts and for students to gain new perspectives – whether on academic work or on the place they will call home for the coming semesters.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part, supported the organisation, provided feedback, and contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the week. Your engagement and enthusiasm made all the difference!
If you couldn’t join us on Friday, you can still explore the final Master’s projects – they are now on display in the hallway on the 3rd floor of Building 40, and will soon be featured on our website as well.
With the Welcome Week coming to a close, we are excited to begin the new semester together. Here’s to a great start filled with learning, inspiration, and collaboration across programmes!
